MLS is in it’s 29th season, started up in 1996. Looking back you find a number interesting aspects to look at as the heritage from NASL were very much seen. Bob Houghton, Ron Newman, Eddie Firmani, Timo Liekoski, Laurie Calloway and Thomas Rongen all having long associations with the famous past of NASL.

12 years after that last NASL season in 1984, it was time for new clubs to recruit new managers and players and get this professional soccer adventure going. MLS in it’s first years were similar to NASL in their’s. No one really noticed the professional game of soccer in US, before Pelè arrived, though it had their imports, clubs and stars long before the Brazilian maestro made it blossom.

Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff recruitment policies as Man City looks for changes upstairs

One of the keys to become a long servant manager could be to find a good rotation among your assistants as you take on different impulse from different people.

One you have seen close to Pep this season is Juanma Lillo. He took charge of the team when Pep had his back operation earlier in the season. Lillo, 57, first moved to the Etihad Stadium in summer 2020, replacing Mikel Arteta as Guardiola’s assistant after guiding Qingdao Huanghai to promotion to the top-tier Chinese Super League. He left before City’s treble-winning campaign last season to take up a head coach role with Al‑Sadd in Qatar but came back to City this month.

Real Madrid hero Juselu makes special hope for all footballers reaching his highest level at the age of 34

Real Madrid were expected to reach the Champions League final this season, especially after a draw in the semi-final first leg vs. Bayern Munich. But to see Juselu as the hero of this team in the return fixture at The Bernabeu was far from an expected story.

Juselu came on as a sub on both occasions, but had no say in the goal away in Munich. But what happened at home, was a fantastic and very special happening.
